Pressurized physical activation: A simple production method for activated carbon with a highly developed pore structure

Activated carbon (AC) is produced by a physical or chemical activation process. Physical methods are commonly adopted in industry because of their low production costs, but the insufficiency activating agent diffusibility into core parts particles and microdomains materials causes lower yield degree pore development, compared with methods. To increase corresponding we propose novel pressurized method. Pressurization afforded remarkable increases specific surface area total volume prepared AC, atmospheric pressure. Additionally, AC this method, size distribution analysis revealed characteristic development micropores about 1.6 nm; such did not appear under conventional activation. Furthermore, observations showed that pressurization increased particles, at microdomain level. This innovative can produce highly developed pores (specific >2600 m2/g) unique due to improved particles.
